The Federal Aviation Administration has issued updated guidelines for temporary flight restrictions during airshows, effective immediately for the 2025 season.

Pilots flying near airshow venues should expect TFR boundaries to extend five nautical miles from show center with altitude restrictions typically reaching 15,000 feet. These restrictions activate approximately two hours before scheduled performances and remain in effect until 30 minutes after the final aircraft lands.
Key changes for 2025 include stricter enforcement near Blue Angels and Thunderbirds performances, with potential certificate action for violations. The FAA reports a 23% increase in TFR incursions during 2024, prompting enhanced monitoring.
Pilots can check active TFRs through the FAA website, ForeFlight, or by contacting local Flight Service. Airshow organizers recommend reviewing NOTAMs at least 24 hours before planned flights in areas hosting aerial demonstrations.
General aviation traffic routing around major shows like Oshkosh and Sun ‘n Fun follows published arrival and departure procedures. Pilots unfamiliar with these procedures should review guidance well in advance.
