EAA Aviation Museum: Blériot XI bis and Spirit of St. Louis Replica Histories

Blériot XI bis Monoplane Replica (N908LB)

The EAA Aviation Museum’s Blériot XI bis replica, registered as N908LB, was constructed to represent a license‑built version of the aircraft produced by the Queen Airplane Company of New York City in 1910. This variant incorporated an original Anzani three‑cylinder radial engine. (Primary source)

Spirit of St. Louis Replicas

EAA has built two “Spirit of St. Louis” replicas. The first was constructed in 1977 to honor the 50th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s trans‑Atlantic flight and was retired to the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh in November 1988. The second replica, a flying aircraft, began construction in early 1990 and was finished in May 1991 with major support from the David Claude Ryan Foundation. (Primary source)
