EAA’s figures show why Oshkosh is more than a daily air show. It temporarily combines a major fly-in airport, aircraft convention, campground, education program, trade exhibition and multiple afternoon and night flying displays.

Why 734,000 attendance matters

The 2026 total exceeded the previous record of 704,000 set in 2025. Wittman Regional Airport and nearby fields handled more than 10,000 arriving aircraft, while Wittman alone averaged about 101 takeoffs or landings per hour during its open periods from July 16 through July 27.

The 2,851 registered showplanes included 1,346 vintage aircraft, 875 homebuilts, 360 warbirds, 118 ultralights and light planes, 88 seaplanes and amphibians, 40 aerobatic aircraft, 18 rotorcraft and six hot-air balloons.

Major Oshkosh 2026 air show highlights

The Royal Air Force Red Arrows made their first AirVenture appearance, flying their Hawk formation displays during the closing portion of the week. The event also included two night air shows, military and civilian demonstrations, historic-aircraft presentations and an America 250 theme spanning multiple eras of flight.

Notable aircraft and programs included B-29 Doc, the Flying Bulls’ P-38 Lightning and DC-6, the Goodyear Blimp, warbirds, homebuilt aircraft, experimental technology, vintage aircraft and military participation. The breadth of the program is why a single “performer lineup” does not fully describe AirVenture.
